Explanation of Terminology
- Lift and Lock
- Allows for height adjustment for different body types without using awkward
levers or knobs. After positioning, an internal ratchet holds the
mechanism in place, so the arm remains firmly in place while typing.
Storing the arm is just as easy. Simply tilt the platform forward and
gently push down to lower, then slide it under your work surface and out of
your way.
-
- Leverlock
- Adjustment is made by releasing the handle, adjusting the position, then
relocking the handle to lock the position. Some arms use one lever for
both height and tilt, others combine both adjustments in one lever.
-
- Spring Assisted Knob
- Allows for easy adjustment by supporting the mechanism during transfer
with an internal spring. Adjustment is made by twisting the knob,
adjusting the position, then twisting the knob back to lock the
position. Some arms use one knob for both height and tilt, others
combine both adjustments in one knob.
-
-
On tracks less than 21", platform my not completely retract in stored
position. Track length should be selected based on the depth of your desk
or mounting surface.
- Ball Bearing
- Provides a fluid, quiet glide.
- Teflon Glide
- A smoother glide than ball bearing, a Teflon glide is completely sealed to
prevent dust and other elements from entering the mechanism.
The most important feature is the ability to adjust the height. Keyboard
height is determined by your chair height (if sitting) and arm length. Being
able to fine tune that and adjust it as you adjust your sitting position
throughout the day is essential
- Leverlock
- Adjustment is made by releasing the handle, adjusting the position, then
relocking the handle to lock the position. Some arms use one lever for
both height and tilt, others combine both adjustments in one lever.
-
- Finger Tip Pull Release
- A lever lock at the front of the mechanism, which allows for easy
access. Adjustment is made by releasing the handle, adjusting the
position, then relocking the handle to lock the position.
-
- Soft Touch Knob
- Allows for easy adjustment by supporting the mechanism during transfer
with an internal spring. Adjustment is made by twisting the knob,
adjusting the position, then twisting the knob back to lock the
position. Some arms use one knob for both height and tilt, others
combine both adjustments in one knob.
-
Why adjust your keyboard tilt?
The keyboard needs to be held at a comfortable, negative angle that allows the
wrists to remain unbroken. This angle should be easy to set once, but does not
need to be changed often. Keyboard tilt does not need to be adjusted during
posture changes as the angle of your arms should remain relatively constant
